Kneeling before God

Psalm 95:6-7  "Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand."

There is a lot of controversy in the news about kneeling. I am not going to get into all of that except to say there is a time to kneel and a time to stand. The passage above says to bow and kneel before our creator as a way of worship. It is a position of surrender and humility, not a "look at me" kind of attitude. God is our creator and sustainer. He is the good shepherd who gave His life to redeem us from our sin. He deserves our praise, but He also deserves our awe. When was the last time you got on your knees before God?  James 4:10 states, "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up." GOD IS GOOD! Kneel before the Lord, for it is appropriate.

Hearing the Voice of God

Jesus speaking to the religious leaders of His day said, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me..." John 10:27.

So many people in our world today are looking for truth, they are seeking direction in their life, many want to know God's will and struggle to find it. I am convinced God wants us to know His will. Jesus wants us to hear his voice. What must we do to know God's will and to be sure we are hearing the voice of Christ?

First of all, be sure you belong to Jesus. Jesus said, "My sheep hear My voice." Therefore be sure you have confessed Christ and that your life is fully surrendered to Him.

Secondly, desire to know God's will with the intent of doing His will. God will not reveal His will to you if He knows you have no intention of obeying Him. God speaking through the prophet Jeremiah said, "you will seek Me and you will find Me when you search for Me with all your heart ."

Thirdly, look for Jesus. God will speak to you through His Word, the Bible, spend time every day systematically reading His Word, especially study the gospels. God will also speak to you through His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit indwells all believers. Through experience, learn to distinguish His voice from the voice of your own conscience and the voice of Satan. Bearing in mind, the Holy Spirit will never lead you contrary to the written Word of God.

Last of all, God leads through the circumstances of life. Look for Him to open doors of opportunity for you, when He opens a door, walk through it.

Jesus wants us to know His will, and He is willing to reveal His will. As He speaks, listen to Him and whatever He asks you to do - just do it!
