Rev. Mike Hensley

Senior Pastor

Rev. Mike Hensley was called as pastor of Swannsylvania Baptist Church in January 1986. He is a graduate of Clinton High School, Clinton, Tennessee; the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee; and attended Luther Rice Seminary and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, completing 92 hours of study.

Currently, Rev. Hensley, in addition to his Senior Pastor duties, serves as Chairman of East Tennessee Baptist Association’s Hispanic Ministry; is Assistant Treasurer of the Association; is President of the CIC Board of Mountain View Youth Developmental Center, Dandridge, Tennessee; and is serving on the Committee on Boards for Tennessee Baptist Convention, Nashville, Tennessee.

In the past, Rev. Hensley has served as Interim Director of Missions for the East Tennessee Baptist Association, Newport, Tennessee; served as Moderator of the Association; served on the Board of the Norton Institute for Church Health at Carson Newman University, Jefferson City, Tennessee; and is currently serving as Chairman for the Committee on Boards for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board(formerly Tennessee Baptist Convention). 

He and his wife, Lynne, reside in Newport, Tennessee. They are the parents of two daughters, Emily and Molly. Emily and her husband, Robin Barnett, live in Greeneville, Tennessee. Molly and her husband, Ronald McCarter, live in Newport, Tennessee. The Hensleys are the proud grandparents of Austin, Addisyn, Avery, Zoe, Mia and Gracen.

Children and Youth Minister

Aaron began his ministry at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, GA, as a Student Volunteer/Chaperone in 2009, after graduating from Bible Baptist Christian School in Hampton, GA.  In preparation for the call that God placed on his heart, Aaron attended Luther Rice Seminary in Lithonia, GA, and attained a Bachelor of Arts in Religion/Ministry (BARM) degree in 2014. While attending Luther Rice Seminary he served as a Student Pastor at Rock Springs Baptist Church in Morrow, GA, (2014-2016). He then returned to First Baptist Church of Jonesboro in 2017, before relocating to Millbrook Baptist Church in Aiken, SC, in 2018, where he served as Resident Student Intern. Aaron is currently pursuing a MA degree in Biblical Counseling at Luther Rice Seminary while serving as Children and Youth Minister at Swannsylvania.

Aaron is excited, passionate, and ready for God to use him to make an impact in the hearts and lives of youth and students.


Mission Statement to Youth and Students

That youth would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, and that Jesus Christ would become their personal Lord and Savior. Through discipleship and by teaching the Word of God, Jesus Christ would become real in the hearts and lives of our youth.
